Children’s Church Musician

Job Description:

The Children’s Church Musician’s primary purpose is to enhance the worship of children’s church and to develop and train children praise singers and prepare songs for Angel Choir.

Responsibilities:

  • To serve as the musician for children’s church.
  • To serve as the musician for the angel choir.
  • Assist in informing parents of rehearsal and performance scheduling.
  • Prepare angel choir’s music for each service and/or performance.
  • Prepare musicians’ for angel choir’s music.
  • Assist in any other related duties requested by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be anointed to work with children
  • Must have impeccable patience.
  • Must have basic knowledge of musical theory.
  • Must be piano proficient and have the ability to teach beginning musical theory.
  • Must be motivating and exciting.

Job Description:

The purpose of HR Assistant is to provide support to the day to day human resources functions and duties for the church. This position carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas; screening and interviewing applicants; preparing payroll; orienting new employees; administering employee benefit programs, and clerical administration.  This position works at the direction of the Business Operations Manager and has partial responsibility for any functions pertaining to HR.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with safety of the workforce as it pertains to all labor laws & regulations.
  • Recruiting & staffing; providing job candidates by screening, interviewing, and testing applicants; notifying existing staff of internal job opportunities; maintaining personnel records
  • Performance management and improvement tracking systems
  • Assisting with employee labor relations
  • Staff communications; email, memos, etc.
  • Compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping
  • Assist with training & development of staff
  • Paying employees by calculating pay; distributing checks; maintaining records.
  • Maintaining human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases; tracking vacation, sick, and personal time.
  • Performing new employee orientation by providing orientation information packets; reviewing company policies; gathering withholding and other payroll information; explaining and obtaining signatures for benefit programs.
  • Documents human resources actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications to stay informed of changing laws and regulations.
  • Accomplishes human resources department and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Assist Business Operations Manager with HR department budget and compiling of reports relating to labor statistics and payroll.
  • Assist with completing federal & state payroll tax calculations and reporting.
  • Assist with annual processing of W-2 statements.

To be considered for this position, a candidate should demonstrate a track record interpreting & understanding federal labor laws, a dedication to serving others, and a commitment to working both alone and as part of a team to accomplish goals and objectives. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to empathize, and superior oral and written skills are desired. A high level of professionalism, organization and teamwork is necessary.

 

The successful candidate will be adept at multi-tasking and working in a deadline-oriented environment.

Accuracy and precision are important aspects of this job. The candidate must have some financial background including current knowledge of accounting practices and bookkeeping systems as well as familiarity with HR Information Technology Systems in order to work with our church financial software.

 

Computer skills should be current and the candidate should have a basic understanding of desktop maintenance procedures, computer networks and database management.  Knowledge of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), QuickBooks, Email, the Internet, as well as prior administrative experience are essential.

At least 1-2 years HR/payroll experience is required.   A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field desirable with some background in finance or non- profit a plus.  Applicable work experience or a combination of experience and education may be substituted.
